An overcast day started my Sunday morning as my family prepared for the one-day trip to Matabungkay, Batangas. My grandpa lives there with my cousin and aunt, near the beach. It's fun to visit them every other month or so, me and my brother measure just how much our cousin, Dona, transformed since we last went there. (she changes with each visit: fat, thin, long-haired, short-haired, etc). She sings very well too, so we keep track of her improvement. Haha~


The adults would stay in the resthouse and me, my brother, and Dona would hang out in the 'other' house. My brother sings a lot too, so whenever we get together, both of them would belt out random songs while I go and be their 'second' voice. It's nice to listen to how much we harmonize, even though I'm not much of a singer (my music teacher said I had Absolute Pitch though).


Most of the day was spent on the road. Going there and back home, hours went by as well as the changes of scenery. I read of a quote before, "Getting there is half the fun" and I guess that's true. Me and my family don't stay together much, so spending hours together inside the car balances out all of those not-together-moments. Exchanging stories of work, school, among other things kept us updated of what's going on with each other's lives. There are also intermission numbers of on-the-road aroma-therapy, and by that I meant "Okay, now who is it this time?!" while we stare each other down, hoping to find the abominable culprit.


I won't lie though, I admit that I find sitting in the car for hours is quite boring. Not to mention that it's such a butt-numbing experience. Good thing I had my camphone with me and a whole lot of battery to feed my need. Yeah that's me, sorry for the crappy quality... mountain roads are quite bouncy.

All in all, I'm glad I had that trip. Not only did I see my ageing grandpa, my busy-body aunt, and my transforming cousing again, I also found out a lot about my dad's previous teen-love escapades, my mom's future plan for all of us, and just how much my brother's gashole leaks. Gah~! >___<;;
