Q&A of the Week: What happened to Meganekodomo?!
31 Jan 2008
Q: What happened to Meganekodomo?!
A: Company secret policies and all that. So hush.

I can't talk about work here or anywhere... So this'll be a mighty short post indeed~

To make a short story shorter, I got busy. Work, meals, and sleep used up most of my days... except now. Because I'm done doing the things I was supposed to do~ Woo!

So here I am using my precious non-work time to post about something I can't even discuss to anyone. I'm not sure how long I'll be 'free' but tomorrow's not busy on my schedule, so I guess you can expect a regular flow of entries now.

I have a handful of Connoisseur-ing entries I have to make. SO watch out for those too! ^___~v
Beauty is the Beast
31 Jan 2008
No that is so not a typo. You're reading it right.

You can find the summary and the download links here.

Short summary: As an 'initiation' for a girl who just transferred to a girl's dorm, Eimi was challenged to sneak into the boys dorm and retrieve a 'keepsake' (door plates!), only to encounter the most feared boy in school.

Before anything else, let me just say that Matsumoto Tomo's work was the first manga one-shot I've edited. *bows* So her works have a very special place in my heart. *sniff* Her drawing style is pretty 'unique' (at least for me it is), but I love it. ^^

I also like how the plot 'develops'. In a way it doesn't drag on like some other mangas (ooopppsss XD) then becomes fast-paced towards the end, and the character development is good, although its a bit slow. This is one of those mangas where I am a bit siding with the "other party" than the guy who is supposed to end up with the girl. (I just hate it when the main guy has this "older girlfriend", I can't seem to understand what their real relationship is. Friends with benefits?)

The side stories are <3 to. So you also get to feel what happens to the 'others' and not just the principal characters! (Side stories are funny though. Is it possible to fall in love like those you read in mangas? *cough*)

For some reason I wanted to read the whole manga until the end and find out if she's really going to end up with the "main guy", because until the very last volume, you'll get this feeling that the ending up with the "main guy" is far-fetched with the way things are. Nice, eh?!

Crap. Volume 5 was the Catalyst! What chapter was that? AHHHH. I'm going crazy! Wanibuchi is just...too much of a complex character. And his 'lady-love' was so much of an easy read that you can only guess what will happen next!

I know what I'm saying doesn't make sense to you, but if you have time and you've read the manga, then you'll know. Wow, I've done so much analyzing of a 5 volume manga. Is that supposed to be good?

Tenshi Ja Nai!
30 Jan 2008
Ahhh...

What better way to "de-stress" yourself than sitting down in front of your computer and read manga. A very very cute manga at that.

To manga-lovers (Otaku? XD) like me, I'm pretty sure "Hana Kimi" (short for Hanazakari no Kimitachi e) is like a household name (in mangas XD). You know the story right? A girl who disguised herself as a boy, entered an all boys school (and live in a dorm full of boys!) to be with the guy she likes. Ne? But what if it was the other way around?

What if it was a boy who was in an all-girls school? And that boy happens to be a school idol/popular star? What would happen if a "mushroom" of a girl knew of his secret? (Mushroom, meaning she doesn't like standing out in a crowd, or be in the limelight. ^^)

Omoshiroi, ne?

That is exactly what Tenshi Ja Nai!! (I am no Angel!!) is all about!

I happen to stumble into a neat site with a couple of completed mangas up for grabs (downloads!), so I thought I'd give it a try, and Tenshi Ja Nai is a fun manga to read! It's like reading Hana Kimi all over again, its just that the roles are reversed. 8 volumes of gender-bending goodness!

Thank goodness its complete. It's such a hassle for me to read incomplete mangas because its hard to keep up with the updates, and its hard to wait for chapter releases!
(Yes I am impatient, so what? XD)

Anyway, if you'd like to try out this manga, here are some useful links for you:

Mangofun (hosts the manga, in MEDIAFIRE! which means quick downloads! WOOH!)

And no, I mean, NO! avid manga reader wouldn't be caught dead without a good manga reading software in his/her disposal. A Korean girl (Soon?) gave this program to Megane a long long time ago (College days!), and, thank goodness I still have it saved somewhere in my Flash Drive. Whew~

Honey Viewer

By the way, Tenshi Ja Nai is not the same as Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. TNJN is a manga created by Ai Yazawa and has a different plot as TJN, which is a manga by Takako Shigematsu. Just so you know. ^^

Random Things about Jenny
29 Jan 2008

And retaliate I shall!

1.) Her name isn't Jenny

2.) She spends 2 weeks' worth of allowance within a week. She's aware of her behaviour, but she just can't stop herself.

3.) Even fingers get tangled up in her hair. Combs? Brushes? Don't even dare!

Hair

4.) Procrastinates like crazy! Even worse than me! @__@;

5.) Loves breasts. Very much. In fact, she's obsessed.

6.) Strawberry-addict. Although I don't know when was the last time she had one...

7.) Uses a broken monitor as her mirror. I tried too, but I wasn't able to see anything... I guess it only works for her.

8.) Her hair is at its best right after waking up. Sometimes she even considers not washing it just because it looks too good.

9.) Doesn't own a belt nor a handkerchief.

10.) Gets terrified if you put her Pikachu stuffed-toy in front of her face. She likes to hug it though. Bizarre...
Pikachu
11.) Sometimes resorts to gibberish at random moments: "Aje je je", "Ayi haishu sheng kwa", "Bajoo joo!". Yes it's very scary.

12.) Green minded. To the highest level. Super.

13.) Loves to fantasize about me and my future love-life. Usually resulting in her twisting and squealing all over the place >___>;

14.) Can eat anything!

15.) Named her breasts: Jaja and Boomboom. (actually I did, but she wanted to anyway)

16.) She can instantly switch on to sleep mode just about anywhere, I kinda envy her for that.

17.) Alarms don't wake her up.

18.) Recently she became such a health-nut. Eating oatmeal with fruits during breakfast, drinking bitter herbal tea, excercising before dawn, etcetera. The results still has to show itself though...

19.) The God of Mess seems to have favored her. Her room is just prosperous.

20.) Some of her hair grows inside her skin. Don't ask. =___=

21.) She attracts drivers, construction guys, janitors, security guards, and random men on the street. I think she's aiming for entry-level employees next.

22.) Thighs.

Thighs

23.) And more thighs.

I can think of tons of others... but I'm running out of peanuts to eat. Maybe next time I'll do a part 2~ ^___^v
Random Things about Meganekodomo
28 Jan 2008
For those who don't know meg, don't bother! Hahaha just kidding.

Anyway, this is supposed to be a list of weird stuff about the ultimate giddy machine but some of them are not weird so I'll just write them in no particular order (Heck, that's why it's called random).

1. He bite and tear his fingernails instead of using a nail cutter.

2. Beware with his monster like burp, it will blow you away!
woosh

3. He only eats 1 or 2 kinds of fish and he want it fried with slices on each side. If it's not like that he won't eat it (he likes sardines and tuna though).

4. There are 3 main love interests in his life namely (code names): 'His Love', 'Little Sis' (both my idea) and 'Legs' (he came up with this one. Hahahaha.. youuu..).

5. His sweat glands are so active that he perspire even by just blinking.

6. Aside from his absolute pitch talent, he has a good sense in fashion especially in mixing 'n matching of clothes. Actually he's my wardrobe stylist ^__^

7. If you don't want to be disturbed while eating, don't eat with him. He'll give you instructions on how to eat whatever it is on your plate to savor every bite.

8. It's hard to get him off from his computer and his favorite lines are: "Wait this won't take long", "5 minutes", "Look at this, this just awesome" (just to divert your attention), "Just a little bit more", blah blah blah...

9. He's realllly good in photoshop, I can attest to that~

10. According to studies, his humour personality is phlegmatic.

11.He can read a page of pocket book in less than a minute; reading each line only once (me, I'd have to go over it 3 times just to understand)

12. Have never seen an actual strawberry... how could you!?

13. Takes dozen of vitamins/supplements/medicine a day.

14. Allergic to shrimps (crustaceans)

15. One time a girl asked for his number and he said "No thank you" and left... what the??!

16. I want to comb his lashes because they're so thick and long. I'll curl it next time~

17. Has childhood sweethearts (as in... not just one!)

18. He can finish a mug of hot coco in 2 seconds!

19. He could bend his thumb like this:

20. He likes striking giddyness pose out of the blue.

21. He never checks his cellphone once he's at home (I messaged him Friday and I got the reply Monday... grrr)

22. He likes fantasy movies.

*whew* That's all for now... =___=;;
Animes...and artbooks...
28 Jan 2008
Here in my country, the first ever word you'll probably associate with Japan would be "Anime". Yes, those 'cartoons' from Japan. We've had a good dose of them good animations since we were little, and Japan-o-philiac or not, at one point in your childhood, I bet you were hooked in an anime or two, ne?

Since the internet at my home is still virtually non-existent, I decided to go for a Slam Dunk Anime marathon yesterday. Yes, I was a bum couch potato the whole day.

It was nice watching the anime series all over again. Brings back a lot of memories. Childhood, and matters of the heart related memories. *shrugs* Moving on... Just so you know, my alias "Kai" is the 'shortened' form of my 6 letter word alias! The name actually came from combining letters from the names of some of Slam Dunk's characters. That's a trivia for you~ XD (But Kai sounded better, so I opted for that ^^)

^ The first ever colored Slam Dunk picture I had. Printed it out when I was a freshman back in high school, and until now I still have the picture. I just found out, a few minutes ago, that this was from Takehiko Inoue's Artbook for Slam Dunk published quite a long time ago.

Speaking of artbooks, it seems like the Slam Dunk fever I got yesteday hasn't quite worn off just yet, so here I am downloading the full artbook from a really nice site I found (THANK YOU GOOGLE!). Lots of artbooks of mangakas, you might want to take a look at them if you're interested in a particular mangaka's art/style.

Anime Manga artbooks

I'm currently snagging the Neon Genesis Evangelion artbooks/calendars and I've finished snagging the X-1999 Japan calendar. Cool! The site even has scans of that Chinese artists and her bishie-ful characters, Chen Shu Fen. You might've stumbled across some of her (I presume she's a girl XD) works in DeviantArt. XD They have Korean mangakas too! (Lee Soo Young, Yoon Mi Kyung etc.)

Yoon Mi Kyung and So Hee Park may very well be my most loved Manhwa-ka (?) of all time. Yes, they are the artists who created Goong and Bride of the Water God. *sigh* What would've happen to me if I decided to pursue my dream of being a mangaka?

Hmmm...

3-Inches Thick All-Meat Pizza
27 Jan 2008

Craving is most probably the most dangerous stage of temptation. It is when you abandon all logic in pursuit of satisfying that irresistable urge. That was why I was devastated when I found out our plan to meet up (kaisu, jenny and me) and eat in SBARRO was postponed once again... *sigh*.

So when my family went out on Sunday to go "malling", I guess I gave in and instead of going to the Japanese restaurant to order the Hirsohima-style Okonomiyaki there, I went to SBARRO's for their Chicago-style Deep Dish pizzas. (I'll blog about that okonomiyaki sometime~)

Condiments

You can never have pizza without preparing your armaments. And for me, that means chili flakes, oregano, parmesan cheese, and hot sauce~ But of course, even with all these weapons, one can never prepare for the enormousity of a 3-inches thick pizza.

Pizza

A gigantic slab of meat + vegetables + sauces + cheese. SBARRO's Chicago-style Deep Dish All-Meat Pizza, a legend on its own. That's white cream sauce generously poured over the top, criss-crossed with hot sauce (a skillful maneuver of mine), with the chili flakes, oregano, etc. Stopping myself from devouring that mass of deliciousness before taking a pic was such a difficult task on my part. *pant pant*

Halfway

Too bad Kai and Jenny weren't there to enjoy the splendor of this culinary masterpiece. 'Pizza' is actually an Italian word for 'Pie', and what a pie it is! It's so big, you can't eat it like a normal pizza. You have to use a fork, spoon and a knife just to get a mouthful~ In case you haven't noticed, this is a stuffed pizza; all the meat is inside, making it look like 3 pizzas stacked on top of each other.

I can't wait to try the other flavors, there's Hawaiian, Vegetarian, and even Pasta! (pizza stuffed with pasta) I just hope Kai and Jenny would be with me during this life-changing experience~
Q&A of the Day: Why is there a Kaisu in OED?
25 Jan 2008
Q: Why is there a Kaisu in OED?
A: Our kingdom needs at least one of her 'species'

And by species I mean fanatics. Super excitable fanatics, characterized by their random hyperventilating activities followed by usual screeching, screaming, and probably a howling or two.

Also known as a fangirl.

She and her people worship men and women (mostly Asian--Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese/Chinese) who they deemed gods and goddesses. This ascension to holiness isn't explained much to me by those whom I have witnessed during their raving instabilities, but to what I understand, they more of idolize the sacred women and is rather more benevolent in comparison to their complete and utter obsession to the sacred men.

These sacred men are the estrogen-filled human species known as 'bishies'. The fangirls offer their very lives to worshipping these bishies because of their godly abilities namely: singing, dancing, acting, or just by simply existing with their finely shaped eyebrows, straight noses, kissable lips, and smooth skin (blegh indeed). Their hype and fervor in faith is unmatchable. So much do they dedicate theirselves to these womanly men that they spend 23 hours of the day singing (or typing) praises and adoration in various languages!

And as such, kaisu is such an important part of the OED; Her being the supply depot of Asian info and by being a Japan-o-philiac herself. Undeniably, her contributions and fixation to the universal knowledge of entertainment is vital to our cause, if we were to even consider being part of one of the major cultural melting-pot in the world: Japan.

Thanks kai for always keeping as up-to-date, may you be blessed with new PVs, albums, concerts, and more kissing scenes between bishies. ^__~v

==========================

Kaisu: If I were to convert my fangirlism energy and enthusiasm to something concrete and measurable like numbers, in a scale of 1-10 (10 being the craziest heighest), I can proudly parade the number 9.

Fangirlness: 9/10
Work of art~
25 Jan 2008
Ahh, why is this place suddenly quiet?!

*pokes*

Anyway, I arrived at the office too early today (darn that conference call!). I was forced to wake up early just so my twin bro (who happens to also be an officemate of mine, how weird is that?) can participate in that darn meeting. *sigh* And since we work in the same office, there was no point in him leaving me behind, so might as well go to work early too.

Enough of blabbing, the point of this post, actually is to "showcase" (is that even the right word?) my "works". Nah, truthfully, just posting a bunch of icons I made out of boredom early this morning. And bring this blog back to life~ *throws magic powder everywhere*

Inspiration: the GazettE's GUREN PV

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

Ahh~ I actually made 20, but...Megane told me to just post the best ones. XD Please do not freak out, haha. My favorites out of the ones I made (this batch) would be icon number 3 and 8. I like how the red came out and bring some life to the icon. Weee~!!!!

All 20 icons are posted in my livejournal account, so if you are curious to see the other icons, click here. (The post is friends-locked though. XD)

New Gastronomical Entries~
24 Jan 2008
Connoisseur-ing is a new blog entry category I came up with while thinking of something to post about. XD

I noticed that there have been a handful of posts of mine that were dedicated to food and whatnot, so why not make a whole new category dedicated to that sort of thing? Besides, I take a lot of pics of the food I eat anyway~

In fact, I have a new entry already in mind for tomorrow. And perhaps, a new one by this weekend... just in case our get-together-slash-eyeball-meeting goes as planned. Anyone up for 3-inch thick pizzas? ^__^
